Duration
Blended Learning First Aid at Work courses still require 18 hours of contact time with the first 6 being done on-line at your own pace with plenty of opportunity to go back to review elements and refresh your knowledge.
The remaining hours are, usually, taught as a group in-class over 2 days of 6 hours each (plus breaks) where the practical elements are done and the assessments take place.
The in-class days can be split into four ½ days (for an extra charge) and the whole course must be completed within 10 weeks of the start of the on-line elements.
Classroom sessions do not have to be over two consecutive days.
Assessment
Assessment is in the form of practical exercises and two straightforward multiple choice papers. Candidates must pass both elements to qualify.
Please note that candidates must be able to perform exercises at floor level where required. It is a requirement of all regulated courses that the candidate should be able to communicate effectively with Emergency Services and, although this is not assessed formally, your instructor must be satisfied that this is the case. As such, all the question papers are in English and a reader will be provided if candidates have literacy concerns or learning difficulties.
Certification
Once qualified, the certificate is valid for 3 years, at the end of which candidates will need to attend a two-day requalification course to requalify (this must be completed within 3 months of the expiry date and candidates are not qualified within this time). It is recommended by HSE that all first aiders should do an annual 3 hour refresher course to keep their skills up-to-date.
Combined Course
We are able to combine this course with a Paediatric First Aid course thus helping schools to meet both their HSE and Ofsted obligations whilst saving time (3 days training instead of 5 for both courses) and, therefore, costs. The additional cost is £25.00 plus VAT per person if joining one of our open courses. It is important that you let us know in advance if taking this option. For more information please click here
Numbers
We book a maximum of 12 people per trainer. Larger groups can be accommodated with additional trainers.
Covid Safety
Currently, and in line with Government guidance, we are not requiring temperature checks, masks or gloves on any of our courses. Should you require these at your premises when we teach there can you please ensure you make us aware of your needs so that we can notify our trainers.
