It’s not always safe in the shade

Is that towel over your child’s pushchair really the best way to protect them from the scorching summer sun or are you just creating a thermos which could have terrible consequences?

Recent research publish in Norway shows that using a blanket or towel, or even a muslin cloth to provide shade for a child in a pushchair or pram can push the temperature up to 37C in a very short time and needs to be discouraged as it could lead to seizures or worse.

The advice is to use a parasol or sunshade.
